According to a Travelstart Survey about airport experiences in South Africa, 26% of travellers surveyed have been victims of baggage theft.

Travelstart surveyed 6000 travellers about their airport experiences in South Africa to learn their biggest gripes. This is some of the interesting results:

  • 72% of South Africans say overpriced parking fees are the biggest airport irritation
  • 26% have been victims of baggage theft
  • 83% of baggage theft happened at O.R. Tambo International Airport

Exorbitant airport parking fees, careless handling of luggage, unclear PA system announcements, lack of free Wi-Fi and surly check-in staff rank high in the minds of passengers who frequent airports around the country.

Questionable bathroom cleanliness, aggressive security personnel and lack of facilities are among lesser annoyances that were revealed by a broad cross section of business and leisure travellers who took part in the study.

Whether you’ve been a victim of stealing baggage handlers or not, this is a video you need to see to help protect yourself the next time you travel!

It’s a sad, but true fact that YOU need to know about… Airport crime is everywhere and unfortunately many people learn about thieving baggage handlers or fast-moving bag stealers when it’s too late to do anything about their lost items.
