Amarnath Cave

Amarnath cave perched at an elevation of 3888 meters belongs to Amarnath ji or Lord Shiva housed within the cave in the form of an ice lingam. The Amarnath Yatra is undertaken by pilgrims in the Hindu month of Shravan. The cave remains accessible in the summer season; i.e. between months June-August. According to legends in this very cave, Lord Shiva divulged the secret of eternity or Amar katha to Goddess Parvati, his consort.
