Celebrating its 16th<\/sup> anniversary on Wednesday, 09 August 2017 (National Women\u2019s Day), the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race has attracted a record number of entries both in Johannesburg and Cape Town that are eager to #RunForLife in support of PinkDrive.<\/p>\n

A popular women\u2019s day celebration, the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race encourages entrants to #RunForLife in support of PinkDrive.<\/p>\n

Bazisiwe Tabata will take part in the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race in honour of her mother.\u00a0 \u201cMy mother is fighting breast cancer.\u00a0 She has undergone surgery and is currently recovering before starting radiation.\u00a0 I love her.\u00a0 I will take part in the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race in honour of my mother, the bravest person that I know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gloria Jiyane will celebrate nine years of remission at the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race.\u00a0 \u201cI have beaten cancer.\u00a0 I am a survivor,\u201d says Jiyane.\u00a0 \u201cEarly detection does save lives.\u00a0 I was diagnosed in 2008.\u00a0 Both my parents died from the disease.\u00a0 I struggled to remain positive, but will admit that counselling helped a lot.\u00a0 I thank my family and friends for their support and positive attitudes.\u00a0 They gave me hope and faith, this carried me through.\u201d<\/p>\n

Muneebah Patel will also celebrate her victory over cancer.\u00a0 \u201cI conquered cancer and am two years in remission,\u201d says Patel.\u00a0 \u201cI entered the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race to show that cancer can be beaten and to inspire other women to be healthy.”<\/p>\n

Selina Kwetla, a proud netball player from East Rand will celebrate Women\u2019s Day with her netball team at the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race.\u00a0 \u201cOur team the \u2018Victorious Veterans\u2019 was started four years ago on National Women\u2019s Day,\u201d says Kwetla.\u00a0 \u201cTo us the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race marks the birth of our netball team. We can’t miss it because no one forgets their birthday right?\u00a0 This will be the fourth year that we participate in the event.\u00a0 I love the race.\u00a0 It recognises and celebrates our core-existence in a healthy way and it encourages healthy living.\u201d<\/p>\n

Live Entertainment<\/u>:\u00a0 <\/strong>After completing either the 5km or 10km Totalsports Women\u2019s Race runners and walkers in Johannesburg can look forward to a lively performance from South African hip hop record producer and musician, Anatii.\u00a0 Capetonians will be treated to a spectacular performance by one of SA\u2019s most prominent music producers and DJs, Sketchy Bongo.<\/p>\n
