{"id":8783,"date":"2017-08-01T20:16:17","date_gmt":"2017-08-01T18:16:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/?p=8783"},"modified":"2017-08-01T20:16:17","modified_gmt":"2017-08-01T18:16:17","slug":"totalsports-womens-race-announces-an-exciting-incentive-for-runners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/press-release\/totalsports-womens-race-announces-an-exciting-incentive-for-runners\/","title":{"rendered":"Totalsports Women\u2019s Race announces an exciting incentive for runners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The organisers of the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race have introduced an additional R20\u00a0000 incentive for the female runner that runs a sub 33min 10km in Johannesburg or Cape Town on Wednesday, 09 August 2017 (National Women\u2019s Day).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe incentive is in addition to the existing overall prize purse of R41\u00a0200 per event of which the winner will take home R10 000,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports.\u00a0 \u201cThis means that should the winner of the 2017 Totalsports Women\u2019s Race (10km) in Johannesburg or Cape Town run a sub 33min race, her prize tally will be a whopping overall total of R30\u00a0000.\u00a0 This is the first time since the event\u2019s inception in 2002 that we are offering such an incentive.\u00a0 We look forward to some exiting racing and fast times on Wednesday, 09 August.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A popular women\u2019s day celebration, the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race encourages entrants to #RunForLife in support of PinkDrive.<\/p>\n<p>Christine Kalmer will be one of the runners to look out for in the Johannesburg race.\u00a0 \u201cI love that the race is for women only,\u201d says Kalmer.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to running through Johannesburg with thousands of women.\u00a0 You can feel the passion on event day.\u00a0 It\u2019s heartwarming to see how the women encourage and support each other throughout the race.\u00a0\u00a0 I\u2019m looking forward to running over the Nelson Mandela Bridge, a Joburg landmark.\u00a0 My goal is to run a competitive race and a solid time.\u00a0 The R20\u00a0000 incentive is great and will definitely be motivation to run extra fast.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure whether I\u2019ll be able to run a sub 33min on race day though, as my personal best is 33:53.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Cape Town Nolene Conrad will be at the front of the field. Conrad also enjoys the fact that this is a women\u2019s only race.\u00a0 \u201cThe Totalsports Women\u2019s Races are well organized and the prize purse on offer is really good,\u201d says Conrad.\u00a0 \u201cI love the vibrant, energetic atmosphere of this race.\u00a0 My goal is to run a fast time.\u00a0 I am coming from Europe where I have been competing in a few track races.\u00a0 My fitness level looks good right now so I feel confident that I can go under my PB.\u00a0 It just depends on the variables that I cannot control, like the weather.\u00a0 The R20\u00a0000 incentive is
