middle- and long-distance runner, Mapaseka Makhanya, returned to her winning ways in Durban on Sunday, 16 July 2017 when she showed her competitors a clean pair of heels in the 10km Totalsports Women\u2019s Race at the Kings Park Athletics Track.<\/p>\n<p>Making her Totalsports Womens\u2019 Race Durban debut on the day, the Nike sponsored athlete made light work of the 10km route crossing the finish line first in 34:30.\u00a0 \u201cI love supporting Women\u2019s events,\u201d says a delighted Makhanya.\u00a0 \u201cMy goal was to use the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race as a time trial for the upcoming Marathon World Championships.\u00a0 I ran with two other runners for the first 3km, after which I was on my own.\u00a0 The wind was really strong on the section of the route that ran parallel to the beach.\u00a0 Running alone on this section was hard and resulted in a slower finishing time than I had hoped for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Totalsports Women\u2019s Race is a lovely race,\u201d continues Makhanya.\u00a0 \u201cThe support is amazing, the organisation is great and the route is stunning.\u00a0 Crossing the finish line first today was a great achievement.\u00a0 I\u2019m excited to be back to my winning ways especially in a 10km race.\u00a0 I definitely want to come back next year.\u201d\u00a0 Lebogang Phalula claimed the second spot on the podium, with Loveness Madziva finishing third.<\/p>\n<p>The 2017 Totalsports Women\u2019s Race boasts an impressive combined prize purse of R123\u00a0600 for Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p>This year the event encourages entrants to \u2018Run For Life\u2019 in support of PinkDrive, a Non-Profit Company (NPC) that is committed to improving breast cancer awareness, education, and providing and offering free services to the medically uninsured across South Africa.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Next Up<\/u>:\u00a0 <\/strong>The <strong>Totalsports Women\u2019s Race<\/strong> will head to
