{"id":59037,"date":"2025-03-17T16:45:51","date_gmt":"2025-03-17T14:45:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/?p=59037"},"modified":"2025-03-17T16:45:52","modified_gmt":"2025-03-17T14:45:52","slug":"runner-ready-for-her-10th-absa-run-your-city-series-race-in-the-mother-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/more-sport\/runner-ready-for-her-10th-absa-run-your-city-series-race-in-the-mother-city\/","title":{"rendered":"Runner ready for her 10th Absa RUN YOUR CITY SERIES race in the Mother City!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An enthusiastic runner, <strong>Zukiswa Gaxela<\/strong> (Luzuko, Phillipi) will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY SERIES by participating in her 10th Absa RUN YOUR CITY SERIES race in the Mother City, the <strong>Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K<\/strong>, taking place on <strong>Mother\u2019s Day<\/strong>, <strong>Sunday, 11 May 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Running for RCS Gugulethu Athletics Club, Gaxela has been passionate about running since childhood. \u201cI train four to five times a week, with my favorite distance being the 21km,\u201d says <strong><em>Gaxela<\/em><\/strong>. \u201cIt\u2019s the vibe, social interaction, and route that keep me coming back to this race each year. Knowing that I am among a handful of runners who have completed all nine races to date is overwhelming. It just shows how quickly time flies! I didn\u2019t realise it\u2019s been nine times\u2014I love this race that much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a club runner, we race all the time, always chasing PBs, but this event is different\u2014you get so many social runners who are here just to have fun. I love that because there\u2019s no pressure,\u201d she admits. \u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to enjoying the Absa Cheer Zone along the route. They always encourage us to keep going! And, of course, the PUMA 100m Sprint to push my time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event keeps improving each year. From race number collection\u2014there\u2019s hardly any waiting\u2014to well-stocked water points and a safe route, it\u2019s always an awesome experience. I was extra happy after last year\u2019s race because, for the first time, I saw myself on TV, dancing with one of the mascots on the route!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In closing Gaxela adds: \u201cI definitely recommend this event to other runners. Every year, I recruit more people to join.
