Marking its second anniversary on Sunday 7 April 2024<\/strong>, the Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K<\/strong> will boast an exhilarating “Schools Challenge<\/strong>” that is guaranteed to spark exciting competition amongst the region’s top athletics schools.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Schools Challenge will add an exciting team element to what is usually an individual sport,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the Series<\/em><\/strong>. \u201cOur goal is to inspire more junior athletes to participate in the 10km, while promoting team camaraderie and igniting friendly rivalries among schools.”<\/p>\n

Welcoming athletes that are 14 to 19 years of age, the Schools Challenge will feature a Boys and Girls division. Schools are encouraged to enter as many teams as possible, each team must be made up of 5 learners. Prizes await the Top 5 Boys Teams and Top 5 Girls Teams, with the winning Boys and Girls teams each securing the coveted Trophy and bragging rights for a year.<\/p>\n

“The Schools Challenge offers a special discounted entry fee of R200 per runner, which includes a temporary license,” continues Meyer. “Schools Challenge entrants will be allocated a dedicated \u201cEntries Collection\u201d point at race pack collection. We trust that this will add a personal touch to each entrant\u2019s experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
