{"id":52294,"date":"2023-12-13T18:33:41","date_gmt":"2023-12-13T16:33:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/football\/finalists-for-the-best-fifa-womens-coach-and-the-best-fifa-mens-coach-awards-revealed\/"},"modified":"2023-12-13T18:33:41","modified_gmt":"2023-12-13T16:33:41","slug":"finalists-for-the-best-fifa-womens-coach-and-the-best-fifa-mens-coach-awards-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/football\/finalists-for-the-best-fifa-womens-coach-and-the-best-fifa-mens-coach-awards-revealed\/","title":{"rendered":"Finalists for The Best FIFA Women\u2019s Coach and The Best FIFA Men\u2019s Coach awards revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"press-body-in\">\n                            <span><br \/>\n                                                            ZURICH, Switzerland, December 13, 2023\/APO Group\/ &#8212;<br \/>\n                                                        <\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>FIFA (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.FIFA.com\" rel=\"noopener\">www.FIFA.com<\/a><\/em><em>) has announced the finalists in The Best women\u2019s and men\u2019s coach categories;\u00a0Winners will be crowned on Monday 15 January 2024 in London, England;\u00a0Sarina Wiegman and Lionel Scaloni are the current holders of the respective coach awards.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>FIFA has announced the finalists for The Best FIFA Women\u2019s Coach and The Best FIFA Men\u2019s Coach awards for the 2023 edition of The Best FIFA Football Awards\u2122.<\/p>\n<p>The finalists for <strong>The Best FIFA Women\u2019s Coach (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apo-opa.co\/46TqJnj\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/apo-opa.co\/46TqJnj<\/a><\/strong><strong>)<\/strong> are (in alphabetical order):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jonatan Gir\u00e1ldez (Spain \/ FC Barcelona)<\/li>\n<li>Emma Hayes (England \/ Chelsea FC)<\/li>\n<li>Sarina Wiegman (Netherlands \/ England)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The accolade recognises the most outstanding performers from the dugout in the women&#8217;s game from the period between 1 August 2022 to 20 August 2023, the date of the FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup\u2122 final.<\/p>\n<p>Sarina Wiegman is a three-time winner of the award in 2017, 2020 and 2022, whilst Emma Hayes was the winner in 2021. For Jonatan Gir\u00e1ldez, it is the first time he has reached the final three shortlist.<\/p>\n<p>A total of five coaches were initially nominated for The Best FIFA Women&#8217;s Coach award, having been chosen by a panel of experts. From this shortlist, the three finalists have been selected by an international jury comprising: women\u2019s national team coaches, women\u2019s national team captains, football journalists, and fans who voted on FIFA\u2019s official website.<\/p>\n<p>The finalists for <strong>The Best FIFA Men\u2019s Coach (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apo-opa.co\/46VsBMy\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/apo-opa.co\/46VsBMy<\/a><\/strong><strong>)<\/strong>, recognising the most outstanding performers in the men\u2019s game from the period of 19 December 2022 to 20 August 2023 are (in alphabetical order):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pep Guardiola (Spain \/ Manchester City FC)<\/li>\n<li>Simone Inzaghi (Italy \/ FC Internazionale Milano)<\/li>\n<li>Luciano Spalletti (Italy \/ SSC Napoli)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As per their female counterparts, a total of five coaches were initially nominated for The Best FIFA Men&#8217;s Coach award, having been chosen by a panel of experts. From this shortlist, the three finalists have been selected by an international jury comprising: men\u2019s national team coaches, men\u2019s national team captains, football journalists, and fans who voted on FIFA\u2019s official website.<\/p>\n<p>The winners of both awards will be revealed at a London ceremony on Monday 15 January 2024. Next month\u2019s ceremony will mark the third time that FIFA has held The Best FIFA Football Awards in London, after the 2017 and 2018 award ceremonies were staged in the city.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How were The Best FIFA Women\u2019s Coach Award and The Best Men\u2019s Coach Award finalists determined?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From the five-coach shortlists, each voter made their first, second and third choices for the prize.<\/li>\n<li>Points were given to nominees depending on where they were placed (five points for first, three for second and one for third).<\/li>\n<li>Nominated national team coaches could not vote for themselves.<\/li>\n<li>Selections from the four voting groups \u2013 coaches, captains, journalists, and fans \u2013 each counted for 25 per cent of the total vote, irrespective of the number of voters from each group.<\/li>\n<li>The Best FIFA Women\u2019s Coach Award and The Best FIFA Men\u2019s Coach Award will be presented to the individual with the most points.<\/li>\n<li>If finalists are tied on points, the award will be bestowed on the individual who has received the most first-choice selections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The voting procedure for The Best FIFA Men\u2019s Player Award is supervised by independent observers and are detailed in the Rules of Allocation (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apo-opa.co\/4amdHBV\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/apo-opa.co\/4amdHBV<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Results will be published in full on FIFA.com following the awards ceremony on 15 January 2024.<\/p>\n<p><em>To keep up with the latest news about The Best FIFA Football Awards 2023, fans can visit FIFA.com.
