{"id":51946,"date":"2023-10-04T17:31:59","date_gmt":"2023-10-04T15:31:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/?p=51946"},"modified":"2023-10-04T17:31:59","modified_gmt":"2023-10-04T15:31:59","slug":"rugby-tens-championship-returns-to-south-africa-with-high-performance-program-and-elite-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/rugby\/rugby-tens-championship-returns-to-south-africa-with-high-performance-program-and-elite-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Rugby Tens Championship Returns to South Africa with High-Performance Program and Elite Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Rugby Tens Championship (R10C) makes its return to South Africa, with its 2nd global High-Performance Residence Program in October 2023, and the 3rd Championship edition in November 2023, reinforcing its commitment to promoting equality and inclusivity in rugby.<\/p>\n<p>This third edition of the R10C is set to take place at the Helderberg Rugby Club in Strand, Cape Town on 18, 22 and 25 November.<\/p>\n<p>The R10C debuted successfully in Lisbon in 2021 and expanded to South Africa in 2022, including stops in Pretoria and Stellenbosch. The tournament featured 5 franchises competing in four divisions, including Men, Women, Boys and Girls, and expects a 6th franchise to join this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cR10C is all about rugby, equality, and entertainment\u201d, says Co-founder and CEO of R10C, Andreea Trufasu. \u201cIt\u2019s our mission to provide equal opportunities for men and women, boys and girls in an exciting and unique tournament format.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The organisers expect to announce numerous HSBC Series Sevens, National Teams Sevens and 15s, as well as top Professional Clubs international stars to be playing and coaching in the competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve grown from four to five franchises since inception, with the inclusion of the Blue Bulls in 2022 and we\u2019re looking forward to adding another franchise to the competition in 2023. All we can say for now, is that Cape Town will have more than one reason to attend this year\u2019s event,\u201d adds Trufasu.<\/p>\n<p>The Balkan Honey Badgers, Blue Bulls, Cape Town Wild Dogs, San Clemente Rhinos, Serengeti Elephants and one new franchise will battle it out for the division trophies and the coveted Franchise Champion Trophy.<\/p>\n<p>More information about the upcoming Rugby Tens Championship in Cape Town, as well as the High-Performance Program will be released soon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About R10C<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Rugby Tens Championship (R10C) is a professional Rugby 10s competition that offers equal opportunities to athletes worldwide.
