Boasting a fantastic new venue at Root44 and fresh, exciting routes in 2023, the upcoming Fedhealth MTB Challenge <\/strong>promises intense competition specifically in the Marathon (+-60km) Race<\/strong> with a strong contingent of formidable riders, including the likes of Danielle Strydom <\/strong>(Wellington, WC) and Franko van Zy<\/strong>l (Wellington, WC) from Team Imbuko Giant, and Elrika Harmzen<\/strong> (Sunningdale, Cape Town) on the starting lineup.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Having claimed victory on her Fedhealth Magalies Monster MTB Classic debut earlier this year, Strydom is excited to set her sights on the <\/strong>Fedhealth MTB Challenge.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201c<\/strong>I did the Magalies Monster which is also a Fedhealth event, and I loved it,\u201d says Strydom<\/em><\/strong>. \u201cSo naturally I think that I will enjoy this one as well, especially as it is in the beautiful mountains.\u00a0I am looking forward to enjoying the scenery and technical terrain. My goal is to podium.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Strydom will face tough competition in the form of Elrika Harmzen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started mountain biking when I was still working in Stellenbosch,\u201d says Harmzen<\/em><\/strong>. \u201cThe mountains have a special place in my heart. If there\u2019s an opportunity to ride and\/or race in the area, I\u2019ll be there. When I saw the trails that will be included in the Fedhealth MTB Challenge route, I had to be there.\u00a0 I am looking forward to experiencing all the trails that we will be racing on. My goal is to get to the finish line completely spent and as fast as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Franko van Zyl is also excited to make his Fedhealth MTB Challenge debut on the day.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to riding the Stellenbosch trails,\u201d admits Van Zyl<\/em><\/strong>. \u201cStellenbosch has stunning trails that always promise excellent racing. I have my eye on the top spot of the podium.\u201d<\/p>\n
