\u00a0<\/strong>Taking place at the Houw Hoek Hotel (Western Cape) from Saturday 19 to Monday 21 March 2022, the organisers of the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN Three-Day Stage Race <\/strong>are calling on all entrants to send through their nominations for the event\u2019s cherished \u2018Sanet Wentzel Spirit Award\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cSanet Wentzel was an Oudtshoorn based athlete who took part in the inaugural THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN Three-Day Stage Race in 2009,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and founder of the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN. \u201cSanet enjoyed the AFRICANX to the fullest that year and could not wait to toe the line again in 2010. Sadly this dream did not come true as Sanet passed away tragically at the end of 2009 after being knocked down by a car during a morning training run.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIn memory of this fallen athlete we founded the \u2018Sanet Wentzel Spirit Award\u2019 that was introduced in 2010,\u201d continues Meyer. \u201cThis trophy honours AFRICANX entrants who persevere irrespective of the adversity that they face. Each year we call on the trail running community to help us identify the perfect recipient of this trophy.
