Bournemouth defender Steve Cook has criticised Tottenham fans for cheering when on-loan Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere fell down injured on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The Cherries were thrashed 4-0 at White Hart Lane and their torrid afternoon was made even worse when Wilshere hobbled off with what looked like an ankle injury in the second half.<\/p>\n
Tottenham supporters delighted in Wilshere’s misfortune, celebrating as the midfielder slumped to the ground and then again as he limped down the tunnel in the 55th minute.<\/p>\n
Wilshere was later seen leaving the stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his left foot.<\/p>\n
Animosity between Wilshere and Spurs fans grew after the 25-year-old sang anti-Tottenham songs from an open-top bus following Arsenal’s FA Cup victory in 2014.<\/p>\n
Cook, however, believes the reaction to his team-mate suffering an injury was too much.<\/p>\n
“Obviously there’s no love lost between Arsenal and Tottenham fans and especially Jack and the Tottenham fans,” Cook said.<\/p>\n
“But it’s not nice. He’s a professional and I know a lot has been said in the past and a lot has happened but no-one likes to see a reaction like that to a player getting injured.<\/p>\n
“That’s the game I suppose but for me it was disappointing.”<\/p>\n
Wilshere has made 27 appearances for Bournemouth since moving to the club on loan last August and h e will now undergo tests to diagnose the extent of his injury. <\/p>\n
“It didn’t look good,” Cook said. “We hope it’s good news. I’m sure we’ll find out in the next couple of days. <\/p>\n
“It’s very disappointing for him especially in this game to come off injured so hopefully it’s fine.”<\/p>\n
Tottenham were already three up when Wilshere was forced off as goals from Mousa Dembele, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane had put the home side in command. Vincent Janssen added a fourth in stoppage time.<\/p>\n
Kane was making his first start in five weeks after recovering from an ankle injury and the striker was a menace for the Bournemouth back-line.<\/p>\n
“It’s fantastic,” Kane told Tottenham’s official club website.<\/p>\n
“We said before the game that we wanted to keep our momentum going and not give anything away.<\/p>\n
“Bournemouth are a tough side, they press high but we did better than them, worked harder and played between the lines, got our chances and took them. It was a fantastic result.”<\/p>\n
