The competition is heating up in the Girls\u2019 Team Category of the Twizza Super School Series National Final <\/strong>that will take place at the Ruimsig Athletics Stadium (Roodepoort) on Saturday 19 February 2022. Top teams to look out for will include: Afrikaanse Ho\u00ebr Meisieskool, Menlopark High School, Prestige College, Helpmekaar Kollege, La Rochelle Girls’ High School, Paarl Girls\u2019 High and Ho\u00ebr Meisieskool Bloemhof to mention just a few.<\/em><\/p>\n

Launched in 2019, the Twizza Super School Series has very quickly become a highlight on the schools\u2019 athletics calendar and has one clear goal in mind \u2013 to crown SA\u2019s best athletics school! There can be only ONE WINNER! The winning school will take home bragging rights for one year!<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Twizza Super School Series is one of the athletics meetings that our school kids are most excited to compete at,\u201d says Anje Nel (18) from Afrikaanse Ho\u00ebr Meisieskool<\/u>. \u201cI am looking forward to competing against all the other schools. My goal is to win the 400m hurdles. Our team\u2019s goal is not only to win, but also to make new friends from other schools. We will be there to compete for the good of our school and we will do so while supporting the rest of our team.\u201d As an athlete Nel focusses on the 400m hurdles, 100m hurdles and 400m.<\/p>\n

Menlopark\u2019s<\/u> Lesedi Khunou (18) believes that the Twizza Super School Series holds athletes to a high standard, both physically and morally as they compete for the ultimate prize, the title of SA\u2019s best athletics school. \u201cThe Twizza Super School Series does a great job at creating \u2018genuine heroes,\u2019 whom kids from all over the country can look up to, especially when\u00a0they hear of the trials and tribulations that they endure just to get to the event, let alone the struggle for gold,\u201d says Khunou. \u201cI always look forward to seeing the spectators come from different destinations to support the sport together. It\u2019s beyond amazing to see that it really is \u2018a small world\u2019 after all when people come together and see that we all have more in common than some may think. Our team\u2019s goal is to go for gold, we are the defending champions after all.\u201d Khunou will be seen in action in the shot-put and discus.<\/p>\n

For Keisha Mangava (17) from Prestige College<\/u> it\u2019s an honour to be associated with the Twizza Super School Series. \u201cIt\u2019s a privilege to be part of an event of this magnitude in South Africa,\u201d says Mangava. \u201cThe talent and atmosphere will have you in awe. I can\u2019t wait to see old friends and witness the enjoyment experienced by children as they are allowed to compete again. I am really looking forward to representing my school in my last year. My goal is to better my personal best in my event, while motivating my team members to become the best girls\u2019 team. Everyone wants to win, but as a team we will aim to give our best in each event and walk off the field with a winning spirit, cheering other teams on \u2013 then we are the real winners.\u201d Mangava\u2019s focus is on long jump and triple jump.<\/p>\n

According to Zoe Tobias (17) from Paarl Girls\u2019 High School<\/u>, the Twizza Super School Series is an amazing event that allows athletes to grow and experience athletics at a greater level. \u201cNot only will I support my school, but I will also support my friends from other schools,\u201d says Tobias. \u201cI look forward to the new bonds that we will build with all the athletes but more specifically I look forward to gaining more experience and knowledge in the items that we participate in. Our team\u2019s goal is to grow as a team while doing everything at our full potential.\u201d As an athlete Tobias focusses on long jump and triple jump.<\/p>\n

Events that can be entered will include<\/u><\/strong>:<\/strong><\/td>\n100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, short hurdles, long hurdles, long jump, triple jump (U17 and U19), high jump, shot-put, discus and javelin for age groups U15, U17 and U19. The following events are for Age groups U17 & U19 only 3000m & Triple jump and U19 Medley Relay (100m, 200m, 300m & 400m) All events are for Boys and Girls.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
