{"id":42656,"date":"2021-10-01T19:41:23","date_gmt":"2021-10-01T17:41:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/?p=42656"},"modified":"2021-10-01T19:41:23","modified_gmt":"2021-10-01T17:41:23","slug":"the-search-for-sas-best-athletics-school-kicks-off-at-twizza-super-school-series-regional-qualifier-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/athletics\/the-search-for-sas-best-athletics-school-kicks-off-at-twizza-super-school-series-regional-qualifier-1\/","title":{"rendered":"The search for SA\u2019s best athletics school kicks off at Twizza Super School Series Regional Qualifier #1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Twizza Super School Series Regional Qualifier #1 <\/strong>inspired nail-biting Track &amp; Field action at the Ruimsig Athletics Stadium (Roodepoort) on Wednesday 29 September 2021 with a strong contingent SA schools toeing the line ready to contend for the coveted title of SA\u2019s best athletics school!<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2019, the Twizza Super School Series has very quickly become a highlight on the schools\u2019 athletics calendar and has one clear goal in mind \u2013 to crown SA\u2019s best athletics school!\u00a0 There can be only ONE WINNER!\u00a0 The winning school will take home bragging rights for one year!<\/p>\n<p>There was no shortage of competition at the Ruimsig Athletics Stadium with teams going the extra mile to secure points for their schools.<\/p>\n<p>Precious Molepo from Prestige College ran a new PB in the Girls U17 200m in a time of 24.14 seconds.\u00a0 \u201cI am very grateful and happy,\u201d says Molepo, who also secured the top spot on the podium in the Girls U17\u00a0400m in an impressive time of 54.16 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Naledi Makgatha from Vorentoe High School took gold in the Girls U17\u00a03000m race in a time of 09:54.37.\u00a0 \u201cI felt very good.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t hard.\u00a0 The 3000m is my favourite race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rolandt Grosskopf from Menlopark High School secured a double victory in the Boys U15\u00a0100m and 200m races.\u00a0 \u201cIt was a good run. I didn\u2019t have the best of starts, but I got up to speed nicely. I am going to keep working up until Nationals and then run the best times there. \u00a0That\u2019s ultimately my goal.\u201d\u00a0 Grosskopf completed the 100m in 10.82 seconds and the 200m in 21.79 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>The action was unfortunately cut short late afternoon due to severe weather conditions.\u00a0 Showing true sportsmanship all participating schools agreed that instead of winners being announced, unofficial results would apply based on the ranking list.\u00a0 The Top Three schools in each category according to the raking list were:<\/p>\n<p><u>Male Team Category<\/u>:\u00a0 Menlopark High School, Prestige College and Afrikaanse Ho\u00ebr Seunskool Pretoria (Affies).<\/p>\n<p><u>Female Team Category<\/u>:\u00a0 Menlopark High School, Prestige College and Helpmekaar College.<\/p>\n<p><u>Mixed Team Category<\/u>:\u00a0 Menlopark High School, Prestige College and Helpmekaar College.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe could not have asked for a better start to the 2021\/2022 Twizza Super School Series,\u201d says Lance Coertzen, Twizza Group Marketing Manager.\u00a0 \u201cOne thing was clear the athletes were hungry for competition, and this is evident in the fantastic results that were achieved.\u00a0 A big congratulations to each and every athlete that participated.\u00a0 We were blown away by the excitement and the vibe, while the camaraderie amongst team members was
