Stellenbosch\u2019s most iconic mountain biking routes will be on display this coming weekend (Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 September 2021) for mountain bikers of all ages to enjoy when they take on the 6th<\/sup> annual Fedhealth MTB Challenge at the beautiful Blaauwklippen Wine Estate!<\/p>\n

The fun will start on Saturday at the Fedhealth MTB Challenge Kids Event <\/strong>(<\/strong>500m, 1.5km or 5km options)<\/strong>, followed by the 15km Fun Ride<\/strong>.\u00a0 <\/strong>The action will intensify on Sunday at the Fedhealth MTB Challenge Marathon (+-58km)<\/strong> and Half Marathon (+-28km)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMountain biking enthusiasts of all ages can look forward to experiencing only the best trails on offer in the magnificent city of oaks,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and the Founder of the event.\u00a0 \u201cThe Marathon<\/strong> will consist of a 58km route that boasts a total climb of 1200m.\u00a0 Riders can look forward to smooth open road climbs, lots of single track and technical (but smooth) descents.\u00a0 Although there is a fair amount of climbing, the rewards will be sweet with moderate technical play on the way down.\u00a0 Iconic farms that will be traversed will include Blaauwklippen, Mont Marie, Dornier, Ernie Els and Stellenrust to mention just a few.\u00a0 This event is ideal for fit weekend warriors.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Half Marathon<\/strong> will cover a 28km distance and will boast a total 580m climb,\u201d continues Meyer.\u00a0 \u201cThe terrain will include good gradient climbs and beautiful\u00a0views.\u00a0 Iconic sections will include the loop at Dornier and the views at Keermont.\u00a0\u00a0 Iconic farms that will be traversed will include Stellekaya, Chaloner, Keermont, Vriesenhof and lots more.\u00a0 The Fun Ride<\/strong> will boast a 15km route that features a total climb of 250m.\u00a0 This route is easy and rideable.\u00a0 The loop at Dornier is guaranteed to be a highlight.<\/p>\n

Meyer adds: \u201cThe Fedhealth MTB Challenge is the perfect opportunity for families to spend time together while getting outdoors and staying active.\u00a0 We can\u2019t wait to welcome mountain bikers to the start line at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate this coming weekend for a mountain biking experience like no other.\u201d<\/p>\n
