Stillwater Sports, the organizers of South Africa’s premier 3-Day Stage Trail Run, are excited to announce that the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN will expand into a National Series of events with three events taking place in 2021 and five events taking place in 2022.

“SA’s trail running community welcomed the return of the iconic THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN that was hosted at the Houw Hoek Hotel in March this year,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the event. “It’s the combination of sensational routes, passionate runners and amazing sponsors that makes the AFRICANX experience so special. The vibe at this event is unparalleled. As the new title sponsor of the AFRICANX TRAILRUN, THIRSTI has injected a new ‘thirst for life’ into the event. Stillwater Sports together with THIRSTI (as the title sponsor) and First Ascent (as the apparel partner) are proud to announce that the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN will expand into a National Series of sensational trail running events with three events taking place in 2021 and five events taking place in 2022.”

“The 3-Day event that took place in March falls under the 2021 list of events,” clarifies Meyer. “The two remaining events that will take place in 2021 will be the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN XPLORE (North West Province) which consists of a 2-Day stage race where runners can compete individually, as well as the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN XPERIENCE (Western Cape) which will be a 1-Day event for individual runners. In 2022 the THIRSTI AFRICANX National Series of events will include the traditional 3-Day event (Western Cape), with two THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN XPLORE races (KZN and North West Province) and two THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN XPERIENCE races (Gauteng and Western Cape). We are excited to extend the footprint of the THIRSTI AFRICANX TRAILRUN and can’t wait to introduce more runners to a trail running experience like no other.”

“After sponsoring the flagship event early this year we immediately knew that we wanted to partner with Stillwater Sports to grow this extraordinary event into a series,” says Rob Hoatson, Managing Director of THIRSTI Water. “The sport of trail running is growing in popularity and attracts a loyal and dedicated community that has shown huge support for our brand and our products. In return, we want to back their passion for life, health and wellness which fits well with our brand values.”
