My goal will be to fight for the win. I would definitely recommend the Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run to other runners. The trails are beautiful, while the ambiance at this race is unmatchable. My advice to first time runners is to prepare well and don’t push too hard too soon on race day.”

“The Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run boasts an excellent route that favours all runners,” says Thabang Madiba (2013 Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run Long Route Champion). “I really enjoy the last section of the 24km race. It requires a lot of speed. It is painful but feels great when you’re pushing your body to the limit. It’s going to be a very fast race. I’m looking forward to giving my all, while having fun. The Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run is the only high-profile middle-distance trail race in and around Gauteng and the Northwest Province.”

“I definitely rate the Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run as one of the best organised trail races in South Africa,” says Edwin Sesipi. “I first ran this race in 2013 and finished 2nd behind Thabang Madiba. In 2015 I finished 2nd behind Lucky Miya and in 2016 I finished 2nd behind Givemore Mudzinganyama. In 2017 I had to withdraw due to health issues. I have unfinished business with the event and can’t wait for race day.”

Nobukhosi Tshuma celebrated her Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run debut in 2019 by claiming gold in the women’s category of the Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run Long Route. “The routes are beautiful and feature a nice mix of farm jeep tracks, gravel roads, bushveld single track, soft sand sections, untouched Magaliesberg mountain trails and indigenous bushveld. My goal is to fight for the top spot on the podium. There is no better way to clear your mind than by spending the morning out in nature at the Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run.”

Maphuti Elizabeth Phaka is excited to make her Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run comeback on Sunday 06 June. “My goal is to finish the race with a smile on my face, while bettering my previous finishing time. The routes are challenging, but beautiful with magnificent views.”

No stranger to the Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run, Leilani Scheffer will be back in action in the 12km Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run. “The Platinum Trail Run has one of the best vibes for a single day race,” confirms Scheffer. “Having the race village at the ATKV Buffelspoort is fantastic as it feels like a little vacation. Although the trail run routes are challenging, the event caters for all levels of runners. I haven’t raced yet in 2021, so my goal will be to race hard, while enjoying the privilege to be able to race.” Scheffer is a former champion in the Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run Long Route (2017 and 2018) and Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run Short Route (2013 and 2016).

EVENT INFORMATION: 8th annual Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run

Date: Sunday 06 June 2021
Venue (start & finish): ATKV Buffelspoort

Distances:

Event: Long / +-24km
Total Ascent: 526m
Entry Fee: R350.00

Event: Short / +-12km
Total Ascent: 218m
Entry Fee: R250.00

Event: Fun Run / +-8km
Total Ascent: 143m
Entry Fee: R150.00

Event: Kids / 2.5km
Entry Fee: R100.00

All trail runners (including the Kids Event) will receive an official technical event t-shirt, and medals will be awarded to all finishers.

CHARITY SUPPORT: The Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run proudly supports The Kindness Collaboration.
