The much anticipated XTERRA Kids Race was the source of much excitement at the Elgin Grabouw Country Club on Saturday, 23 February 2019.<\/p>\n

The perfect introduction to the sport of XTERRA Racing, the XTERRA Kids Race featured three entry options for junior adventure seekers aged 6 \u2013 15 years.\u00a0 The first event was for athletes aged 6 \u2013 8 years and featured a 60m swim, 2km MTB and 600m Trail Run.\u00a0 The second option was for 9 \u2013 11 year old entrants and featured a 100m swim, 3km MTB and 1.5km Trail Run.\u00a0 The final category was for athletes between 12 \u2013 15 years of age and featured a 250m swim, 5km MTB and 2.5km Trail Run.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe XTERRA Kids Race is action packed from start to finish,\u201d said Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.\u00a0 \u201cThis is the perfect introduction to the sport of XTERRA.\u00a0 The children get to swim, run and mountain bike in a safe environment with mom and dad nearby at all times.\u00a0 We are thankful to each and every parent for entering their children, allowing them to be part of the XTERRA vibe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matthew Ratcliffe (Constantia) took part in the 6 \u2013 8 year category of the XTERRA Kids Race.\u00a0 \u201cThe XTERRA Kids Race was good,\u201d said a very happy Ratcliff.\u00a0 \u201cThis is the first time that I participate.\u00a0 My brother took part in 2018.\u00a0 I enjoyed the mountain bike discipline the most.\u00a0 I definitely want to be back next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Klara du Plessis (Stellenbosch) had fun in the 9 \u2013 11 year category of the XTERRA Kids Race.\u00a0 \u201cThe event was nice.\u00a0 The swim was a little busy.\u00a0 I enjoyed the mountain bike the most.\u00a0 We (referring to her older brother and sister) take part every year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Andrew Bosch (Port Elizabeth) was on a mission in the 12 \u2013 15 year category.\u00a0 \u201cI took part in my first XTERRA in 2018,\u201d said a very happy Bosch.\u00a0 \u201cI really like the location and enjoy the trail run discipline the most.\u00a0 My XTERRA hero is Richard Murray.\u201d<\/p>\n

Entrants and spectators can enjoy a hot Rialto coffee<\/strong> before, during and after the action.\u00a0 XTERRA Warriors can give their all on route knowing that leading Health and Wellness brand, GNC <\/strong>will keep them hydrated in the Recovery Zone.\u00a0 The team from EPT<\/strong> will be offering free massages to all entrants post-race, while Spur<\/strong> will ensure that entrants and spectators will not go hungry.\u00a0 Athletes will also be treated to a free foot massage in the Falke <\/strong>Foot Zone.<\/p>\n

XTERRA Warriors are encouraged to support Olympic\u2019s <\/strong>\u2018shoe drive\u2019 by donating old shoes at registration.<\/p>\n
