{"id":26408,"date":"2019-02-18T17:49:20","date_gmt":"2019-02-18T15:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/?p=26408"},"modified":"2019-02-18T17:49:20","modified_gmt":"2019-02-18T15:49:20","slug":"spca-cherishes-runner-support-at-fnb-cape-town-12-onerun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/press-release\/spca-cherishes-runner-support-at-fnb-cape-town-12-onerun\/","title":{"rendered":"SPCA cherishes runner support at FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A proud charity of the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN, the Cape of Good Hope SPCA has enjoyed tremendous support from event entrants with an impressive total of R67\u00a0530 donated to the cause after the 2018 event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thankful to each and every runner that showed their support by choosing to make a donation towards the Cape of Good Hope SPCA when entering the 2018 FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.\u00a0 \u201cThe SPCA works tirelessly to help Cape Town\u2019s stray and abandoned animals.\u00a0 As a proudly Cape Town event, we are delighted to be able to show our support.\u00a0 We look forward to continue growing the relationship in 2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been an official event charity since 2016, ironically the same year that we officially opened our newly constructed Animal Care Centre,\u201d said Natasha Johannes, Fundraising Officer Cape of Good Hope SPCA.\u00a0 \u201cThis facility by its very design contributes to both the psychological and physiological well-being of our animals. Our animals are kept in clean, spacious and warm environments. With 228 dog kennels and 36 cat rooms, we are able to accommodate more animals than ever before.\u00a0 Our journey with the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN has been a remarkable one.\u00a0 Through our partnership thousands of stray, abandoned, rescued and impounded cats and dogs have benefitted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN is an amazing event,\u201d continues Johannes.\u00a0 \u201cWe love the people and we love the vibe.\u00a0\u00a0 We are truly appreciative for the spectacular donation received.\u00a0 No words can describe the joy of being able to care for as many fur babies as we possibly can.\u00a0 The funds covered at least 15% of the medical bills incurred by our adoption centre.\u00a0 This year for the first time ever we will offer runners, who donate R200 or more, a free limited edition SPCA branded running t-shirt.\u00a0 This will be our first running t-shirt to carry our new brand statement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1872, the <strong>Cape of Good Hope SPCA<\/strong> (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is the founding society of the SPCA movement in South Africa and is the oldest animal welfare organisation in the country. A registered non-profit organisation and Public Benefit Organisation, the society relies on the support of concerned individuals and corporates to continue operating.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>EVENT
