Celebrating its 5th<\/sup> anniversary at the majestic Eikenhof Dam (Elgin Grabouw) on Sunday, 17 February 2019, the Western Cape\u2019s premier open water swim, the Sanlam Cape Mile brought to you by Sanlam Investments is sure to be a crowd pleaser both in the elite race and team relay.<\/p>\n

The 2019 Sanlam Cape Mile boasts two exciting distances:\u00a0 a 1 mile (1.6km) and a refreshing 500m swim. Categories that can be entered include:\u00a0 a 1 mile, 5x 1 mile Charity Swim, 500m and 500m team relay (x4 member team).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 5th<\/sup> annual Sanlam Cape Mile is the perfect event to get the New Year started,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.\u00a0 \u201cThe event will take place the third weekend in February when weather conditions are at its best and the water is sure to be warm.\u00a0 To date the Elite Race has been the source of much excitement with the men\u2019s winners being crowned as a result of a nail-biting sprint finish (in 2015, 2016 and 2017).\u00a0 This is a definite crowd pleaser.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAdding to the excitement is the Sanlam Cape Mile\u2019s 500m team relay,\u201d continues Meyer.\u00a0 \u201cSpecial moments are enjoyed most when shared.\u00a0 The 500m team relay is ideal for close-knit families, friends, schools, clubs and companies looking for the ideal team building exercise.\u00a0 The team needs to consist out of four swimmers who will each swim 500m.\u00a0 Expect high energy and lots of excitement.\u00a0 Spectators are encouraged to join in on the fun.\u00a0 The festival village at the Elgin-Grabouw Country Club will be a hub of excitement with good food, great music and a spectacular atmosphere.\u00a0\u00a0 We look forward to showcasing just how exciting and rewarding the sport of open water swimming can be.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first three teams in the 500m team relay will take home a prize of R5000, R3000 and R2000 respectively.<\/p>\n
