{"id":22956,"date":"2018-10-09T17:12:29","date_gmt":"2018-10-09T15:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/?p=22956"},"modified":"2018-10-09T17:12:29","modified_gmt":"2018-10-09T15:12:29","slug":"incentive-scheme-announced-for-sa-athletes-at-fnb-durban-10k-citysurfrun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/press-release\/incentive-scheme-announced-for-sa-athletes-at-fnb-durban-10k-citysurfrun\/","title":{"rendered":"Incentive Scheme announced for SA athletes at FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An impressive incentive scheme has been announced for South African athletes taking part in the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> annual FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN on Sunday, 14 October 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Incentives announced for South Africa\u2019s elite athletes include R3000 for a time placing to R50 000 for a SA Record.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSouth Africa is rich in talent especially in the sport of road running,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.\u00a0 \u201cWhile our athletes get to compete against the world\u2019s best abroad, they rarely get the opportunity to do so on home soil.\u00a0 The FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN, however grants them this opportunity.\u00a0\u00a0 They get to compete against the best athletes (local and from abroad) in a world class \u2018local\u2019 10km race.\u00a0 Our goal is to help improve their abilities, while further uplifting the standard of South African road running.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to take this one step further by introducing an incentive scheme for all South African elite runners,\u201d continues Meyer.\u00a0 \u201cWe are proud to be able to use the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN as an incentive to motivate South African runners to continue improving on SA soil.\u00a0 The incentive is in addition to the R750\u00a0000.00 prize purse that is spread across the FNB Run Your City Series.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The FNB Run Your City Series is made up of the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN, FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN and the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s race, the categories start from 29 min 30 sec to 29 min 59 sec (in other words sub 30minutes) and decrease by 30 seconds each time, right down to a new SA Record \u2013 sub 27:38. The full breakdown is listed below.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s incentive scheme starts at sub 34:30 and goes down to the women\u2019s SA record of 31:13 or better. The first five athletes in each category will be awarded the incentive prizes.<\/p>\n<p>Important to note, is that this is not cumulative. In other words, if 3 athletes break 28:30, they are ONLY eligible for the sub 28:30 incentive, not the incentive that would go with the sub 30, sub 29:30 and so forth. The same applies to the women.
