Mountain biking comes home the weekend of 24 and 25 November 2018 with South Africa\u2019s premier 2-day MTB Experience, the Origin Of Trails MTB Experience, celebrating its 6th<\/sup> anniversary in Stellenbosch!<\/p>\n

An individual 2-day MTB Experience, the Origin Of Trails routes highlight the beauty and splendor of the City Of Oaks.\u00a0 Mountain bikers can look forward to the \u201conce a year opportunity\u201d to experience a vast network of world class trails and can choose between a:\u00a0 Fun Ride (1-day), Long Route (2-days) and Short Route (2-days).<\/p>\n

Long Route:\u00a0 <\/strong>\u201cThis route is ideal for mountain bikers that are accustomed to spending time in the saddle,\u201d says Corrie Muller, Origin Of Trails Route Designer.\u00a0 \u201cIt might sound daunting, but the 1550m vertical ascent is needed to ensure that riders have the maximum single track experience.\u00a0 Although we focused a lot of our attention on eliminating unnecessary climbs, this stage is by no means flat.\u00a0 Stage One also boasts 18.5km of pristine single track heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iconic sections to look out for during Stage One<\/strong> of the <\/u>Origin Of Trails Long Route <\/u><\/strong>will include<\/u>:<\/p>\n

  1. Canaries in Jonkershoek<\/li>\n
  2. Mont Marie and its spectacular floating bridge.<\/li>\n
  3. G-Spot<\/li>\n
  4. The last 2 kilometres will be on the 2018 World Cup XCO Track<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Short Route:\u00a0 <\/strong>\u201cOne of our main goals in 2018 was to make the Short Route less challenging and more enjoyable,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.\u00a0 \u201cWe are happy to announce that this year the Origin Of Trails Short Route will feature less climbs with improved flow.\u00a0 As a result this route will be faster.\u00a0 With an emphasis on having fun, you do not need to be super fit to enjoy this event, but a fair level of fitness will ensure that you get the most out of your experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Long Route<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0 <\/strong>\u201cTwo long climbs await riders on this stage,\u201d confirms Muller.\u00a0 \u201cRiders can look forward to a combination of fast, rocky single track and long climbs.\u00a0 This year Stage Two boasts a bird’s-eye view of Banhoek.\u00a0 The old favorite, Skyfall and its smaller buddies will give riders a whopping 5km descent into the valley below.\u00a0 Heat is always a possibility in November.\u00a0 Be sure to spare some energy for the last climb.\u00a0 Remember this is the last stage, be sure to enjoy every minute.\u201d\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Short Route<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0 <\/strong>\u201cStage Two of the Origin Of Trails Short Route will feature two open, easy climbs,\u201d continues \u00a0Muller.\u00a0 \u201cAny technical obstacle will have a suitable B-line.\u00a0 Riders can look forward to a fun experience, without having to risk injury.\u00a0 Iconic sections to look out for will include Mont Marie (with a nice splash at the end) as well as the world renowned G-Spot.\u00a0 Remember the Origin Of Trails MTB Experience is SA\u2019s MTB party of the year.\u00a0 Take your time and enjoy the beauty, rekindle your love for this amazing sport.\u201d\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n
