Mountain bikers taking part in the 4th<\/sup> annual Fedhealth MTB Challenge at the picturesque Boschendal Wine Estate (The Retreat) on Saturday, 15 and Sunday, 16 September 2018 can look forward to a MTB experience like no other.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The action will kick off with the Fedhealth Kids MTB Event<\/strong>s on the Saturday (15 September).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe source of much excitement, the Kids Race is a definite calendar highlight,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.\u00a0 \u201cThe events cater for junior MTB enthusiasts between 0 \u2013 13 years of age.\u00a0 Entrants can choose between a 500m, 1.5km and 5km adventure.\u00a0 At times it\u2019s difficult to tell who is enjoying the event more, the children or the parents.\u00a0 With short, fun routes, the Fedhealth Kids MTB Events are the perfect introduction to the sport of mountain biking.\u00a0 Participants (and supporters) will not go home disappointed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The MTB action continues on Sunday (16 September) when the more senior mountain bikers can choose between a +-15km<\/strong>, +-30km<\/strong> or +-60km<\/strong> route.<\/p>\n

According to Pieter du Plessis, Fedhealth MTB Challenge Race Director, the 15km <\/strong>Fedhealth MTB Challenge<\/strong> is perfect for parents who would like to enjoy a MTB experience with their children.\u00a0 \u201cThis route is easy, fast and will feature vineyard roads and single track.\u00a0 There will be one water point at approximately the 10km mark.\u00a0\u00a0 Riders can look forward to experiencing exclusive routes on the Boschendal Farm Estate.\u00a0 Remember to bring a spare tube and bicycle pump.\u201d<\/p>\n

The +-30km<\/strong> Fedhealth MTB Challenge <\/strong>features a nice combination of vineyard and gravel road.\u00a0 \u201cThere will be two water points, one at the 12km mark and one at the 22km mark,\u201d says Du Plessis.\u00a0 \u201cThis year our objective was to avoid tough climbs.\u00a0 Although there will be a few climbs, they are all rideable.\u00a0 Running in an anti-clockwise direction through Banhoek, riders will start towards Simonsberg, go through the culvert to Kylemore before turning back into the Banhoek Conservancy.\u00a0 Riders can look forward to experiencing routes that are usually not accessible to the public.\u00a0 Whether a beginner or advance rider, you are sure to enjoy this event.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you like a lot of single track, the +-60km<\/strong> Fedhealth MTB Challenge <\/strong>is ideal for you,\u201d continues Du Plessis.\u00a0 \u201cThis event features pristine single track, general vineyard roads and open farmland.\u00a0\u00a0 The four water points will be located at the 20km, 30km, 46km and 52km mark.\u00a0 This year we focussed on creating an enjoyable route that featured as much single track as possible.\u00a0 Expect beautiful trails with challenging climbs.\u201d
