Jones set for Totalsports Women\u2019s Race Durban debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Durban will be a hive of activity on Sunday, 22 July 2018 when thousands of runners, including the likes of Glenrose Xaba and Tish Jones, toe the line at the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race in support of PinkDrive.<\/p>\n<p>Xaba will make her Totalsports Women\u2019s Race Durban debut on the day (having previously competed at the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race in Johannesburg), while Jones will make her Totalsports Women\u2019s Race debut in Durban.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love running in Durban,\u201d says Xaba.\u00a0 \u201cI love running, meeting new people and competing with the best.\u00a0 I really enjoy running cross-country (XC), but 10km is my best distance.\u00a0 It is great to have a \u2018women only\u2019 race that supports PinkDrive, a cause that is doing really good work for women.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy goal is always to go for the win,\u201d continues Xaba.\u00a0 \u201cThat is what I will aim for on race day.\u00a0 I am looking forward to Durban\u2019s warm weather, and of course the race.\u00a0 My personal best time for a 10km race is 32.22 set in April this year.\u00a0 I will definitely try to better this time at the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race in Durban.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Jones, she enjoys the sport because it\u2019s a great test of pace and endurance.\u00a0 \u201cRoad running is accessible to so many people and it unites people of all shapes, sizes and abilities.\u00a0 I\u2019ve always wanted to take part in the Totalsports Women\u2019s Race.\u00a0 It\u2019s a great initiative that encourages women from all over South Africa to come together and discover a higher awareness of an important subject, while celebrating Womanhood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am looking forward to being part of the atmosphere, joining in on the celebrations and running alongside some super strong ladies,\u201d continues Jones.\u00a0 \u201cI must admit, 10km isn\u2019t my favourite distance to race, however I do enjoy how challenging it is for such a short journey.\u00a0 I feel more anxious at the shorter races because of the fierce pace from the gun.\u00a0 The longer the race, the less anxious I become.\u00a0 This will be my first race back after recovering from injury.\u00a0 I am keen to see where my fitness level is currently at, but I do not anticipate bettering my personal best time of 32.56 set in 2017.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Event Information<\/u>:\u00a0 <\/strong>2018 Totalsports Women\u2019s Race<\/p>\n<p>The Totalsports Women\u2019s Race is an annual celebration that encourages athletes to \u2018Run United\u2019 in three major cities (Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town) in support of boasts a R41\u00a0200 prize purse.\u00a0 Prize money has been allocated to the top 8 finishers in the Open Category with the winner taking home a whopping R10\u00a0000.\u00a0 The top 8 runners in the Junior Category will also be awarded for their efforts, while the top 3 finishers in the age categories 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+ will also not go home empty-handed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CHARITY
