Armin Botha (Potchefstroom)<\/strong> will be gunning for gold at the Fedhealth IMPI Elite Race at Virginia Trails (Eston, KZN) this coming Saturday (16 June 2018).<\/p>\n

Botha made his Fedhealth IMPI Challenge Elite Race debut in April this year where he claimed gold at the Fedhealth IMPI Elite Race #1 at Coetzenburg (Stellenbosch).<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoy the IMPI Elite Race because it is tough,\u201d says Botha.\u00a0 \u201cMentally and physically the race is on another level. There is nothing quite like it. It is original and unique in every sense.\u00a0 There\u2019s an IMPI Challenge in Cape Town, Durban and Gauteng.\u00a0 I believe that each venue will offer a particular set of challenges.\u00a0 I\u2019d like to defend my Cape Town title in Durban.\u00a0 I now have a feel for the event and kind of know what to expect.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKZN is, however, the lair of the master, Mr Claude Eksteen,\u201d continues Botha. \u201cIt won’t be an easy task if he decides to toe the line on the day.\u00a0 I love racing against him though, as he is such a classy athlete.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 2018 Fedhealth IMPI Challenge #2 in Durban boasts an impressive combined prize purse of R43\u00a0000 with the Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Elite Race winners guaranteed a whopping R10\u00a0000 each.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s fantastic when sponsors and organisers come together to offer elite athletes such an incredible prize.\u00a0 A prize purse makes it possible to cover all our expenses and allows us to focus on the next big event.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about advice for newcomers to the sport, Botha had the following to offer:\u00a0 \u201cDon\u2019t over think it, no matter how daunting the task may seem.\u00a0 See the race as a journey, an experience. You learn so much about yourself when faced with a challenge. You grow stronger and more confident. To be active, able and willing to push your limits is an incredible energy. Once you feel that energy and fire inside of you, you’ll be amazed at what you are capable of doing.\u00a0Ease into the swing of things and don’t go out guns a blazing. Make sure that you are well hydrated and well fuelled.\u00a0 Grab a friend, make some memories and mingle afterwards. I’d love to hear from some of the newcomers after the race. My first Fedhealth IMPI Elite Race was one of the most wonderful moments in my racing career!\u201d
