That week was good for me as my training picked up immediately and I know I am in great shape,” said Conrad.

The 32-year-old ran her personal best over the half marathon when she represented South Africa at the World Half Marathon Championships in Valencia on 24 March where she crossed the line in 71:44.

“I ran my half marathon PB off marathon training, so I know I can do something special at the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN. After my rest, my body has fully recovered and I have not lost any strength or speed. I am looking forward to Sunday, 20 May.”

Kesa Molotsane is South Africa’s latest female running sensation after winning 11 of the 17 races she ran in 2017, five of the those on the road. Already she has extended that streak into 2018 with a win at the SA Cross Country Trials in Bloemfontein in January and two 10km road race wins in March in Cape Town (34:10 – 25 March), and Port Elizabeth (33:46 – 5 May).

“I haven’t run over 12km before so I have no idea what to expect,” said Molotsane. “I know I am in great shape and am looking forward to racing, but I really just do not know what to expect.”

Both Conrad and Molotsane are wary of Stella Chesang, the Ugandan who won the Commonwealth 10 000m title in April this year. “It is great that there will be international competition in the women’s race again this year. We need more of that in South Africa. The girls know each other too well and therefore know how to plan for races. But with international competition it means we cannot watch each other the way we are used to. Stella (Chesang) has run 31:54 for 10km so we know she is really fast,” said Conrad.

EVENT INFORMATION: FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN

Date:

Sunday, 20 May 2018

Start Venue:

Woodbridge Island, c/o R27 and Loxton Road, Milnerton (Cape Town)

Finish Venue:

Bree Street (Cape Town, CBD)

Entry Fee:

Standard Entry: R170 (licensed) / R205 (unlicensed)

Gold Package Entry: R850 (licensed) / R885 (unlicensed)

Charity Support: When entering online, runners can choose to support either or both the FNB Cape Town ONERUN Charities: Die Burger Kersfonds and The Cape Of Good Hope SPCA.

Facebook: Ctown12 / CapeofGoodHopeSPCA / @DBKersfonds

Twitter: @CTown12

Instagram: CapeTown_12 / CapeSPCA

Hashtag: #CT12Run

Website: www.thecapetown12.com

The FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN forms part of the “FNB Run Your City Series” that includes the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN (taking place on Monday, 24 September 2018 / Heritage Day) and the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN (taking place on Sunday, 14 October 2018).

Runners taking part in all three events will be rewarded with an unrivalled event experience, a FNB Run Your City Series Performance T-shirt and medal on completion of the third race, the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN, where a special hospitality area awaits.

CLICK HERE to watch the FNB Run Your City Series Teaser Video.

For further information please visit www.runyourcityseries.com For more information on the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN visit www.thecapetown12.com or email entries@thecapetown12.com

About the FNB Run Your City Series:

FNB is proud to bring you the FNB Run Your City Series.
