The deciding factor would be an exciting sprint to the finish, with Marais clinching victory mere seconds ahead of Brown.  \u201cI felt good in the water, focused and ready to race,\u201d said Marais.  \u201cStaying with Chad and Myles, I focused on my own race.  When there was approximately 400m to 500m left I decided to give my all.  I am very happy with my win.  Although I train in Durban, I am originally from Clifton, so claiming a win in Cape Town is really nice\u201d.  Marais claimed victory in a lightning fast time of 17 minutes 41 seconds.
