{"id":17064,"date":"2018-03-26T19:12:46","date_gmt":"2018-03-26T17:12:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/?p=17064"},"modified":"2018-03-26T19:12:46","modified_gmt":"2018-03-26T17:12:46","slug":"best-dressed-title-up-for-grabs-at-africanx-trailrun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/press-release\/best-dressed-title-up-for-grabs-at-africanx-trailrun\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Dressed title up for grabs at AfricanX Trailrun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u201cLet Nature Give You A Run For Your Money\u201d<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although all three stages of the <strong>AfricanX Trailrun presented by ASICS <\/strong>are equally special, Stage Two features \u2018that extra flair\u2019 with trail runners allowing their creative sides to get the better of them as they try to outdo their rivals in the AfricanX\u2019s \u201cBest Dressed\u201d competition.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017 Renata Schoeman and Nic De Beer of Team \u201cGoldilocks and The Bear\u201d walked away with the coveted title of \u201cBest Dressed Team\u201d after completing Stage Two dressed as Goldilocks (Renata) and The Bear (de Beer).<\/p>\n<p>According to Schoeman, the AfricanX Trailrun was her first Stage Race (run in 2009).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve loved the routes, the vibe, and the experience (including the food and the race village),\u201d says Schoeman. \u00a0\u201cNic and I did the AfricanX to raise awareness for ADHD and other mental health barriers to education and to launch our NGO\/PBO \u2018The Goldilocks and The Bear Foundation\u2019.\u00a0 We decided from the beginning to go big or go home.\u00a0 We actually dressed up all three days according to our theme.\u00a0 You can\u2019t imagine how layers of net and off shoulder dresses can chafe!\u00a0 My suffering, however, was nothing compared to Nic\u2019s. I had to pour ice down the bear suit every few kilometres.\u00a0 I also carried the Bear\u2019s head a few times.\u00a0 The photograph taken by Tobias Ginsberg became an iconic photo of what the Foundation stands for \u2013 children, support, \u2018in-it-for-the-long-run\u2019 and doing what we love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For de Beer, it\u2019s the incredible social vibe that attracts him to the AfricanX Trailrun.\u00a0 \u201cYou get to spend a weekend with all your running buddies from all over the country, doing something we all love,\u201d says de Beer.\u00a0 \u201cThe best dressed competition is such a great addition to AfricanX.\u00a0 Only a small percentage of the field is there in serious racing mode.\u00a0 The rest of the field can express themselves in various ways by dressing up and having fun.\u00a0 Winning the competition was just a bonus.
