The Elgin-Grabouw Country Club was bustling with excitement on Friday, 23 February 2018 when 458 eager junior triathletes toed the line at the water\u2019s edge of the Eikenhof Dam ready to participate in the action of the much anticipated Fedhealth XTERRA Kids Race.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Fedhealth XTERRA Kids Race was the perfect start to a weekend of fun filled XTERRA racing,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports.\u00a0 \u201cAction packed from start to finish the kid\u2019s race is always the source of much excitement.\u00a0 It was heartwarming to see moms, dads, grandparents and siblings supporting the junior XTERRA warriors from start to finish.\u00a0 We are thankful for the support and look forward to welcoming back all junior XTERRA Warriors in 2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always a pleasure for us to welcome our younger XTERRA Warriors to the Fedhealth XTERRA Grabouw; the biggest XTERRA in the world. The enthusiasm with which these aspiring off-road triathletes tackle their events ensures that they always have\u00a0 an amazing experience in the water, on the bike and on the trail run. Our Kids event provides a great, fun day out for children who are keen on an active lifestyle,\u201d remarks Jeremy Yatt, Principal Officer of Fedhealth.<\/p>\n

Junior XTERRA Warriors could choose between three age group categories when entering the Fedhealth XTERRA Kids Race:\u00a0 6-8 years (60m Swim, 2km MTB, 600m Trail Run), 9-11 years (100m Swim, 3km MTB, 1.5km Trail Run) or 12-15 years (250m Swim, 5km MTB, 2.5km Trail Run).<\/p>\n

Nick Etherton (age 8) took part in his third Fedhealth XTERRA Kids Race on the day.\u00a0 \u201cXTERRA is fun.\u00a0 I really like winning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Caleb Hunter (age 7) is no stranger to the Fedhealth XERRA Kids Race.\u00a0 \u201cMy three brothers are also taking part today.\u00a0 I like running.\u00a0 The mountain biking was fun, but hard.\u00a0 I really enjoy XTERRA.\u201d<\/p>\n

Klara du Plessis (age 7) had a fun time on route.\u00a0 \u201cThe event was fun.\u00a0 I enjoyed the mountain-biking the most.\u00a0 I\u2019ll definitely come back next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Ethan Hunter (age 11), the Fedhealth XTERRA Kids race isn\u2019t too hard.\u00a0 \u201cXTERRA is fun.\u00a0 I like it because it isn\u2019t insanely hard.\u00a0 I like the mountain-biking the most.\u201d<\/p>\n

Andrew Bosch (age 14) travelled all the way from Port Elizabeth to take part in the Fedhealth XTERRA Kids Race.\u00a0 \u201cMy dad is taking part in the XTERRA Full tomorrow.\u00a0 XTERRA is amazing.\u00a0 I love the mountain biking the most.\u00a0 XTERRA is the best event ever.\u00a0 \u00a0I definitely want to take part next year again.\u201d<\/p>\n
