{"id":16013,"date":"2018-02-05T18:45:00","date_gmt":"2018-02-05T16:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/?p=16013"},"modified":"2018-02-05T18:45:00","modified_gmt":"2018-02-05T16:45:00","slug":"runners-change-lives-at-fnb-cape-town-12-onerun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/press-release\/runners-change-lives-at-fnb-cape-town-12-onerun\/","title":{"rendered":"Runners change lives at FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Seen here:\u00a0 Runners in action at the 2017 FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN.\u00a0 Photo Credit:\u00a0 Tobias Ginsberg<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The 2017 FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN saw runners donate an impressive combined total of R112\u00a0555.00 to the event\u2019s two charities, <strong>Die Burger Kersfonds<\/strong> and <strong>The Cape Of Good Hope SPCA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN has proudly supported <strong>Die Burger Kersfonds<\/strong> since the event\u2019s inception in 2015 and <strong>The Cape Of Good Hope SPCA<\/strong> since 2016,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports.\u00a0 \u201cThese two charities lie close to our hearts and we are thankful to all runners that showed their support in 2017.\u00a0 This support enabled a welcomed donation of R 26\u00a0479 to <strong>Die Burger Kersfonds <\/strong>and an impressive donation of R 86\u00a0076 to <strong>The Cape Of Good Hope SPCA <\/strong>proving once again that the sport of running does have the ability to change lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Started in 1957, <strong>Die Burger Kersfonds<\/strong> is a non-profit organisation that aims to assist with the educational needs of less fortunate children, developing the youth\u2019s leadership skills and giving children a home while they attend these different programmes.<\/p>\n<p>According to Suzaan Potgieter, Die Burger Kersfonds Coordinator, being part of the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN is a lot of fun.\u00a0 \u201cThe event is a great tourism opportunity for Cape Town, it is fun for those living in the province and a strong focus is placed on charity support.\u00a0 Die Burger and the\u00a0FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN have one very important thing in common: Cape Town!\u00a0 We understand Capetonians better than anyone else.\u00a0 Through our partnership we get to reach more people and promote an event that is taking place in the city that we love the most.\u00a0\u00a0 The FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN is one of the most special projects that we partake in.\u00a0 It really makes a difference. We are extremely thankful for the support and look forward to a spectacular race in 2018.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1872, the <strong>Cape of Good Hope SPCA<\/strong> (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is the founding society of the SPCA movement in South Africa and is the oldest animal welfare organisation in the country.
