Stefan Buchholz, a keen sports enthusiast from Strand, will swim five miles (five waves of 1.6km each) at the 4th<\/sup> annual Sanlam Cape Mile on Sunday, 18 February 2018 in support of the Heartlands Baby Sanctuary.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2015, the Heartlands Baby Sanctuary in Somerset West is a registered Child and Youth Care Centre and a Paediatric Hospice that provide 24 hour residential care for orphaned and vulnerable children from birth to 6 years of age; including Palliative\/End of Life Care for children from birth to 12 years of age.<\/p>\n

\u201cSwimming is the perfect sport to use as a fundraising vehicle,\u201d admits Buchholz.\u00a0 \u201cThe Sanlam Cape Mile offers the opportunity to combine the joys and challenges of long distance swimming with a really good cause.\u00a0 My plan is to swim all five waves in different swimming styles:\u00a0 Breaststroke, Freestyle, Butterfly and Backstroke.\u00a0 I will also swim the fifth wave in Freestyle.\u00a0 Swimming all styles makes my project somewhat unique #MagicMileMedley.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI drive past the Heartlands Baby Sanctuary on my way to work each day,\u201d continues Buchholz.\u00a0 \u201cWhen I first visited the Sanctuary they showed me the caring facilities and I also met some of the children and parents.\u00a0 Heartlands helps to provide dignity and a warm space for these children and their families while going through the saddest, most difficult moments. If my campaign helps Heartlands to continue making a difference, I know that it is the right thing to support.\u201d<\/p>\n
