Origin Of Trails epitomizes real mountain biking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Stellenbosch (Western Cape) \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>Stage Two of the 2017 BUCO Origin Of Trails Two-Day Mountain Bike (MTB) Stage Race treated riders to 23.2km of single track riding in and around the picturesque City of Oaks on Sunday, 26 November 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Riders could choose between three entry options:\u00a0 a <strong>Long Course<\/strong> (+-55km on Saturday and +-58km on Sunday), a <strong>Medium Course<\/strong> (+-55km on Saturday and +-29km on Sunday) and a <strong>Short Course<\/strong> (+-28km on Saturday and +-29km on Sunday).<\/p>\n<p>Daniel van der Walt claimed his second stage victory in the <strong>men\u2019s Short Course <\/strong>crossing the finish line in 01 hour 30 minutes 47 seconds.\u00a0 \u201cToday\u2019s stage was definitely tougher than Stage One,\u201d admits van der Walt.\u00a0 \u201cIt was good though, a lot of fun.\u00a0 The route was well-marked.\u00a0 I\u2019ll definitely be back next year.\u201d\u00a0 Tjaart van der Walt came in second, while Ico Coetzee finished third.<\/p>\n<p>Riding for Prochorus, Gershwin Steyn managed an impressive 5<sup>th<\/sup> place position after completing Stage Two in a deserving time of 01 hour 39 minutes 49 seconds.\u00a0 \u201cThis is the first time that I take part in Origin Of Trails,\u201d admits Gershwin.\u00a0 \u201cI really enjoyed the event.\u00a0 The route is nice.\u00a0 I love the tracks, jumps and single track.\u00a0 I was hoping to make top five.\u00a0 I\u2019m tired, but it feels good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The BUCO Origin Of Trails is a proud supporter of <strong>Prochorus<\/strong>, an organization that was established in 1996 with a primary focus to redress the social imbalances in society and secondly to meet the needs and concerns of the local community. \u00a0\u00a0Origin Of Trails also supports the <strong>Aitsa After Care Centre<\/strong>.\u00a0 The Centre strives to expose children to fun activities and programs in an alternative home environment where they feel loved and special.<\/p>\n<p>Christine van der Walt was the first rider home in the <strong>women\u2019s Short Course<\/strong> in a time of 02 hours 05 minutes 21 seconds.\u00a0 Sannelize Janse Van Rensburg came in second, while Mikayla Forrester finished third<\/p>\n<p>Rory Smith was the first rider home in the men\u2019s <strong>Medium Course <\/strong>with a finishing tine of 01 hour 39 minutes 28 seconds.\u00a0 Daniel Groenewald came in second, while Leon Prozesky finished third.<\/p>\n<p>Elrita Blignaut was the first rider home in the women\u2019s <strong>Medium Course <\/strong>crossing the finish line in 02 hours 14 minutes 06 seconds.\u00a0 Robyn Tully came in second, while Justine Laver finished third.<\/p>\n<p>Renay Groustra claimed his second stage victory in the men\u2019s <strong>Long Course <\/strong>in a time of 02 hours 58 minutes 49 seconds.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m happy to be back on the bike,\u201d says Groustra.\u00a0 \u201cI had a blast at Origin Of Trails.\u00a0 The trails are fantastic.\u00a0 This definitely is the MTB party of the year.\u00a0 I\u2019m thankful to the event organizers for putting together a great event.\u201d\u00a0 Jean-Pierre Lloyd came in second, while Craig Uria finished third.<\/p>\n<p>Marlene Lourens crossed the finish line first in the women\u2019s <strong>Long Course.\u00a0 <\/strong>According to Lourens the stage was fantastic.\u00a0 \u201cIt really is a privilege to be able to ride in Stellenbosch.\u00a0 Everybody comes to chill.\u00a0 The pros get to relax and enjoy themselves.\u00a0 Origin Of Trails is what mountain biking is all about.\u00a0 It is true mountain biking.\u201d\u00a0 Lourens crossed the finish line in 03 hours 31 minutes 15 seconds, followed by Ila Stow in second place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday was amazing,\u201d says Stow.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s nice to see how the trail networks have expanded in Stellenbosch.\u00a0 It was a treat riding with Marlene.\u00a0 We had a lot of fun out there.\u00a0 The routes have so much to offer and are really rewarding.\u201d\u00a0 Tanya Rabie rounded off the podium.<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s cross-country World Champion and UCI World Cup Champion Nino Schurter joined in on the action at the 2017 BUCO Origin Of Trails.\u00a0 \u201cI love Stellenbosch, it\u2019s one of my favorite places to ride,\u201d says Schurter.\u00a0 \u201cThe race was cool.\u00a0 It showed off the really nice trails.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t in race mode, so I got to see the scenery today.\u00a0 I took a lot of selfies on the bike and had some really good chats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>XTERRA legend Conrad Stoltz was also seen out on route.\u00a0 \u201cI love the event,\u201d says Stoltz.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s the epitome of MTB trails in Stellenbosch.\u00a0 This is the reason why I do the sport.\u00a0 It was really special riding include a spectacular combination of single-track in the pristine setting of the majestic Stellenbosch Winelands.<\/p>\n<p>After each stage riders had the opportunity to share their war stories while
