{"id":13201,"date":"2017-11-10T07:52:16","date_gmt":"2017-11-10T05:52:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/?p=13201"},"modified":"2017-11-10T07:52:16","modified_gmt":"2017-11-10T05:52:16","slug":"single-track-heaven-continues-on-stage-two-of-buco-origin-of-trails","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/press-release\/single-track-heaven-continues-on-stage-two-of-buco-origin-of-trails\/","title":{"rendered":"Single track heaven continues on Stage Two of BUCO Origin Of Trails"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Stellenbosch (Western Cape) \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>Stage Two of the BUCO Origin Of Trails Two-Day MTB Stage Race will take place in Stellenbosch on Sunday, 26 November 2017.<strong><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An individual rider race, entrants can choose between three entry options:\u00a0 Long (+-55km on Saturday and +-58km on Sunday), Medium (+-55km on Saturday and +-29km on Sunday) or Short (+-28km on Saturday and +-29km on Sunday).<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Long Course Information:<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cStage Two will also start and finish at the Coetzenburg Soccer Field in Stellenbosch,\u201d says Corrie Muller, BUCO Origin Of Trails Route Designer.\u00a0 \u201cThe route goes straight up and through the farmstead.\u00a0 A gradual climb will see riders visiting Eden and all the trails that were missed during Stage One.\u00a0 Turning back, the route will re-enter Coetzenburg with a long descent from the upper end of G-Spot.\u00a0 Crossing over to &#8216;The Dart\u2019 riders will enjoy this new flowing trail that was designed as part of next year\u2019s Cross-Country (XCO) World Cup.\u00a0 The section from here is flat and includes a bridge over the Eerste River, constructed just for BUCO Origin Of Trails riders thanks to the boys from Form-Scaff.\u00a0 A stint through some leafy suburbs will take riders to the big climb of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Botmaskop riders will get to experience the longest possible manicured single track,\u201d continues Muller.\u00a0 \u201cHitting the famous Skyfall at 40km an hour is a feast.\u00a0 After experiencing \u2018Jackies\u2019 riders will make their way to the beautiful Banhoek.\u00a0 Be sure to fill up on the sweet water when crossing the river.\u00a0 The route then snakes its way up the other side.\u00a0 After a decent followed by more technical single track riders just might be treated to sightings of Eland and other wild animals.\u00a0 From here the route turns home through Kylemore and up into Andre`s orchards for a re-entry into Botmaskop.\u00a0\u00a0 The first single track is new and dips onto the old downhill course of 1998 and then into G-spot\u2019s little brother. Riders will have a swift surge through the neighborhood with the last single track being along the Eerste River.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Distance:<\/strong>\u00a0 58 km<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vertical climb<\/strong>:\u00a0 1570 m<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amount of Single Track:\u00a0 <\/strong>23.2 km<\/p>\n<p><strong>Water Tables<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Water Table 1<\/strong>: 17km<\/li>\n<li><strong>Water Table 2: <\/strong>27km<\/li>\n<li><strong>Water Table 3:<\/strong> 45km<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Short Course Information:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cShort course riders will enjoy the same route to Eden as the long course riders,\u201d confirms Muller.\u00a0 \u201cThe route goes through the Eerste River and halfway up Botmaskop.
