{"id":10200,"date":"2017-09-05T08:30:51","date_gmt":"2017-09-05T06:30:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/?p=10200"},"modified":"2017-09-05T08:30:51","modified_gmt":"2017-09-05T06:30:51","slug":"performing-arts-groups-set-for-fnb-joburg-10k-cityrun-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/sport\/press-release\/performing-arts-groups-set-for-fnb-joburg-10k-cityrun-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"Performing arts groups set for FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joburg\u2019s leading performing arts groups will be the source of much excitement on route at the 2<sup>nd <\/sup>annual FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN on Sunday, 24 September 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Dance groups to look out for will include:\u00a0 <strong>Moving into Dance Mophatong (MID)<\/strong>, <strong>The Field Band Foundation<\/strong>, the <strong>Parktown Boys\u2019 High School Band<\/strong> and the <strong>Sophiatown Majorettes Club<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A premier African dance company and training academy, <strong>MID <\/strong>has both a national and international footprint.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mark Hawkins, MID Artistic Director, the group loves the spirit of the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN.\u00a0 \u201cWe are excited to be able to inspire the runners to reach their final goal and dreams.\u00a0 We\u2019re looking forward to showing our skill, not only to runners but also to the bystanders and supporters.\u00a0 The audience can look forward to high energy and exuberance.\u00a0 Our goal is to encourage entrants to achieve what they set out to achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Field Band Foundation<\/strong>\u00a0is a non-profit company that was established in 1997 to bring the global performance band concept to disadvantaged areas of South Africa, with the goal to develop a uniquely indigenous variant of this performance type.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to be part of an event of this magnitude,\u201d says Paul Pereira, Public Affairs Consultant to the Field Band Foundation.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u201cWe look forward to treating runners to a great vibe and cheerful music.\u00a0 Runners can look forward to hearing echoing\u00a0sounds of brass, percussion, marimbas and steel drums.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Sophiatown Majorettes Club <\/strong>was established in Westbury 2015 with the aim to restore the sport of majorettes in township communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are super excited to be part of this year\u2019s FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN,\u201d says Leanne King-Alexander, Head Coach at the Sophiatown Majorettes Club.\u00a0 \u201cThrough our participation we are hoping to broaden the mind-set of our majorettes as they will be able to experience and interact with a greater community.\u00a0 By showcasing our skills and our beloved sport we would love to encourage and inspire other young ladies to reach for their dreams.\u00a0 Runners can look forward to synchronized choreography, energy and passion;
