Eleven months after donating 10 billion litres of water to the Cape Town water supply, and with just-over one month to go to the 5th annual Sanlam Cape Mile brought to you by Sanlam Investments (taking place on Sunday, 17 February 2019) the Eikenhof Dam boasts a water level of over 70%.

“At the beginning of 2018 Day Zero was a real concern,” admits Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.  “However at just under 40% in February, the dam level was still high enough for us to host a safe and fun filled event in 2018.  With things looking up for 2019 we look forward to celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Sanlam Cape Mile with dam levels exceeding 55%.”

According to Willie Landman, General Manager Elgin Grabouw Country Club at the end of February 2018 the dam level was at 38.94% vs. 58.20% in 2017.  “If the irrigation schedule goes according to plan in 2019, the Eikenhof dam levels should be approximately 55% to 65% in February.  This is great news for the Sanlam Cape Mile, a fantastic event that is great for both the local community and tourism.  Sunday, 17 February is a very important date on our calendar.  We look forward to the event every year.”

Celebrating its 5th anniversary at the Eikenhof Dam (Elgin-Grabouw Country Club, Western Cape) on Sunday, 17 February 2019, the Western Cape’s premier open water swim, the Sanlam Cape Mile brought to you by Sanlam Investments will boast two exciting distances:  a 1 mile (1.6km) and a refreshing 500m swim.
