Pretoria: A City of Tshwane employee will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court for the murder of ANC member Simon Modihe. Justice Mashola, 36, stands accused of murdering Modihe on June 19 at the Tshwane Events Centre after a scuffle between members of opposing ANC factions. He was granted bail in June.

Durban: Three men found in possession of drug making equipment, chemical ingredients used for the manufacture of drugs and 4,000 tablets of ecstasy are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court. Chimezie Agwanihu, Victory Nnadi and Ifani Nnadi were arrested by the Hawks at an old age home last month.

Ramsgate: (August 8 – 19) (Circuit High Court) – Three people, traditional healer Sihle Mchunu, his alleged accomplice Thandowakhe Duma, and security guard Mveleso Eric Nqinare are to stand trial for beheading Nawaaz Khan, an intellectually impaired cricketer, a woman Albertina Gambushe, and attempting to behead another man in October 2015. They will appear at the Circuit High Court.

Cape Town: Final arguments are expected to be heard in the Western Cape High Court in the case against Zephany Nurse’s kidnapper. The woman, who cannot be named, was convicted of kidnapping Zephany when she was three days old in 1997. She was also convicted of fraud and contravening the Children’s Act.

Cape Town: Sentencing proceedings are expected to start in the Bellville commercial crimes court against former Eskom managing director Dawid Johannes Malherbe. He has been found guilty of fraud and money laundering. Malherbe and a co-accused were arrested in 2013 after a whistle blower alerted the Hawks to irregularities in the tender awarding process at Eskom. Malherbe awarded tenders to his own company, Energy Utility Services, during his tenure between 2007 and 2009 at Eskom.
