Saturday, 1 August 2026 — Free State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to three separate bus-related incidents this morning. EMS crews, with partner agencies, triaged, treated, and transported patients to appropriate facilities.<\/p>\n

Incident details:<\/p>\n

• Xhariep District <\/p>\n

At Smithfield on the R701 T-junction, Voortrekker Street) at approximately 04:30, a Bus overturned resulting in 2 critical, 2 serious, 64 minor injuries – No fatalities and the scene was cleared. <\/p>\n

• Thabo Mofutsanyana District <\/p>\n

On the Bethlehem–Reitz Road, a Multi-vehicle collision involving three buses resulted in 2 critical, 5 serious, 180 minor injuries and No fatalities.<\/p>\n

• Thabo Mofutsanyana District <\/p>\n

On the Reitz–Tweeling-Frankfort crossing, a Bus and light motor vehicle collision resulted in 4 fatalities.<\/p>\n
