{"id":47602,"date":"2026-06-28T08:01:35","date_gmt":"2026-06-28T06:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/media\/accidents\/intercape-warns-authorities-to-comply-or-face-prison\/"},"modified":"2026-06-28T08:01:35","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T06:01:35","slug":"intercape-warns-authorities-to-comply-or-face-prison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/media\/accidents\/intercape-warns-authorities-to-comply-or-face-prison\/","title":{"rendered":"Intercape warns authorities to comply or face prison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAPS and Eastern Cape municipalities accused of flagrantly violating court orders  <\/p>\n<p>Intercape Ferreira Mainliner (Pty) Ltd has accused local municipalities in the Eastern Cape of unlawfully targeting its operations, and the police of failing to protect it against ongoing violence, in direct violation of court orders.<\/p>\n<p>Intercape is now pursuing contempt of court proceedings against individual members of the South African Police Services (SAPS), with the threat of 90-day terms of imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>In June, Intercape secured three further High Court victories in the span of just 14 days, taking its unbroken legal record to 17 consecutive victories before the High Court of South Africa, Eastern Cape Division (Makhanda).<\/p>\n<p>Despite the latest and clear rulings, Intercape says municipal traffic departments continue to unlawfully impound buses and issue fines in direct violation of existing court orders.
