Shortly after multiple PVES units were activated for a CPR-in-progress call in the east of Pretoria, another urgent request for assistance came through for a motor vehicle accident on the N4.<\/p>\n

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to aquaplaning — a hazardous situation where a layer of water causes a vehicle’s tyres to lose contact with the road surface, resulting in reduced steering and braking control.<\/p>\n

The vehicle came to a stop in the centre ditch between the northbound and southbound lanes, only a few metres from a strong-flowing stream of water. Weather conditions at the time were severe.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, the driver sustained only minor injuries and was assessed on scene by responders and transported to hospital by GPG.<\/p>\n

We urge all motorists to take extra caution when driving in rainy conditions: reduce speed, increase following distance, and ensure headlights are switched on.<\/p>\n
