On Saturday, Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR) teams from the West Coast were deployed after a hiker in his 60s slipped and fell 10 metres down a waterfall on the 22 Waterfalls Trail near Porterville.<\/p>\n

Given the nature of his injuries and the challenging terrain, specialist rescue teams were deployed alongside the Western Cape Government Health and Wellness EMS \/ Air Mercy Service (AMS) rescue helicopter to facilitate the evacuation. <\/p>\n

The patient was treated on scene by a paramedic, carefully secured in a stretcher and hoisted to safety, before being transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.<\/p>\n

The operation concluded shortly before 15h00.<\/p>\n

We thank all teams involved for their coordinated effort and wish the injured hiker a full recovery.<\/p>\n
