{"id":41204,"date":"2025-11-16T04:20:34","date_gmt":"2025-11-16T02:20:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/media\/accidents\/transport-ministers-raise-concerns-about-fatal-crashes-involving-vehicles-used-for-public-transport\/"},"modified":"2025-11-16T04:20:34","modified_gmt":"2025-11-16T02:20:34","slug":"transport-ministers-raise-concerns-about-fatal-crashes-involving-vehicles-used-for-public-transport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/media\/accidents\/transport-ministers-raise-concerns-about-fatal-crashes-involving-vehicles-used-for-public-transport\/","title":{"rendered":"Transport ministers raise concerns about fatal crashes involving vehicles used for public transport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Transport, Ms. Barbara Creecy, and Deputy Minister, Mr. Mkhuleko Hlengwa have expressed serious concern with the persistent rise in the number of road fatalities due to crashes involving public transport modes.<\/p>\n<p>Their concerns were raised in the wake of today&rsquo;s tragic loss of ten (10) lives from a serious collision between a truck and an Interstate Bus Train approximately 5 km from Mandela View between Bloemfontein and Botshabelo.<\/p>\n<p>The crash involved a total of forty-one (41) people, and it has been confirmed by emergency services that six persons suffered severe and critical injuries and were taken to Pelonomi Trauma Unit. At the same time, seven patients were transported to Botshabelo hospital and Busamed with moderate injuries.<\/p>\n<p>This is in addition to twenty-four other people who sustained minor injuries and were transported to Botshabelo Hospital for further care.
