The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Center was inundated with calls for assistance shortly after the crash. Reaction Officers and Paramedics were immediately dispatched to the scene, finding one female pedestrian lying in a prone position on the pavement beside a damaged white Mitsubishi Colt bakkie, which appeared to have overturned.<\/p>\n<p>The 40-year-old driver informed First Responders that he had blacked out and could not recall the events leading up to the accident. The cause of the blackout is unknown as the man does not have any underlying medical conditions.<\/p>\n<p>According to one of the injured pedestrians, she and her colleague were walking along Jackaranda Avenue when the vehicle suddenly swerved onto the pavement, striking them both.
