One man was killed, and three others left injured following a collision between a taxi, bakkie and light motor vehicle on the R37, approximately 15km outside of Polokwane.
ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene to find the taxi, bakkie and light motor vehicle on the same side of the road. The bakkie had been ripped open in the collision while the taxi was on its side.
On closer inspection, medics found a man in his 50s, lying trapped inside the bakkie in a critical condition. Three other patients were found with serious to critical injuries.
Medics carefully extricated the man and provided the patients with advanced life support interventions.
Unfortunately, after some time, the critically injured man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Once treated, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
