Taxi crashes into tree leaving three dead, ten injured in Westonaria

Three people were killed, and ten others left injured yesterday afternoon when a taxi crashed into a tree on Jan Blignaut Road in Westonaria.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 16h02 to find several services already in attendance. Medics had already begun to assist the patients.

On closer inspection, medics found that three people had sustained numerous fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead.

Ten other patients were tended to by medics. Assessments showed that four people were in critical condition, while six others had sustained moderate injuries.

The patients were treated and the critically injured provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, three critically injured patients were airlifted by private medical helicopters to nearby hospitals while the remaining patients were transported by ambulance.
