Several people were hospitalized after a mini taxi they were travelling in overturned on the northbound lane of the R102 between Tongaat and King Shaka International Airport.
A member of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was on patrol in the area when he noticed the Toyota Hiace taxi in a grass verge on the roadside. Several people were lying on the ground next to the vehicle.
The Reaction Officer stopped to assist and was informed by the driver that while travelling in the direction of Tongaat the right rear tyre burst (picture 3) causing the taxi to overturn.
The injured were stabilized on scene before being transported to hospital.
