Sixteen Injured In North Coast Road Smash

As many as sixteen commuters have been left injured following a collision involving two minibus taxis on Durban’s Chris Hani or North Coast Road as it was previously known.

Crisis Medical paramedics arrived on the scene at the intersection of Chris Hani Road and Orange Grove, just after 7 am on Tuesday, to find the injured passengers clambering to safety from the wreckages of two minibus taxis which had collided just minutes earlier.

A triage system was set up, whilst additional resources were summoned to the scene by our Emergency Contact Centre. The injured were treated and stabilized on the scene, before being taken by various ambulances to nearby receiving medical facilities for further care.

At this stage, the cause of the collision is unknown and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation.

Traffic was severely affected in the area as the accident scene occupied part of the Durban bound roadway.
