Several injured after taxi brakes fail in Mount Moriah

Several people were injured after a taxi overturned outside Mount Moriah near Duffs Road this morning.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene after receiving multiple calls from the public reporting a collision between a Toyota Hiace taxi and a Ford Fiesta.

Upon arrival several private ambulance services were on scene. The Toyota Hiace taxi was found lying on its side. Several occupants of the taxi and one person from the Ford Fiesta was injured. They were treated on scene before being transported to hospital.

According to one of the passengers from the taxi the vehicle was travelling down Mount Moriah Drive when its brakes failed. The driver attempted to overtake vehicles in front of him however collided into the side of a Ford Fiesta. The taxi then overturned.

Traffic was delayed due to the collision.
