Limpopo impounds and arrest transgressors

Limpopo Government has intercepted about 5 Taxis and arrested one for operating illegally during the first day of Lockdown.

Three Gauteng registered taxis were intercepted in Modimolle driving without operating licenses, one 16 seater was actually carrying 20 people.

One 22 seater was intercepted carrying 27 people, and the other 16 seater did not have a permit. A sedan driver with a Department of Health permit was arrested for drunken driving.

On the eve of the Lockdown on Thursday Premier Chupu Mathabatha and Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba conducted a roadblock to trace and monitor those driving from Gauteng and other Provinces. Thousands of commuters, some in buses, others in private and taxis were monitored and most were tested in a mobile laboratory at Mantsole Traffic Centre on the N1 and R101 yesterday (Thursday).
