KwaZulu-Natal: Eleven injured in R102 Verulam crash

At 08H30 Monday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the R102 South bound between Ottawa and Verulam North of Durban.

Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a mini-bus taxi lost control allegedly due to a mechanical fault, slamming into a metal barrier.

Medics assessed the scene and found that eleven of the sixteen occupants on board the taxi had sustained moderate injuries.

The patients were treated on scene and once stabilised were transported by various ambulance services to hospital.

One patient an adult female sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by helicopter to hospital for the treatment she required.

All necessary authorities were on scene.
