13 Injured in Head-on Crash on the M4 Ruth First Highway near Broadway Offramp


Thirteen people have sustained various injuries after a head on collision on the M4 Ruth First Highway near Broadway Offramp this morning around 07:00am.

Rescue Care, Crisis Medical and Netcare911 Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos. A taxi and a light motor vehicle had collided head on, on the North Bound carriageway. Advanced Life Support Paramedics found that five people were entrapped in the taxi. Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to cut the trapped free whilst Paramedics stabilised them in the wreckage. Multiple ambulances were used to transport the injured patients. Once all the injured had been stabilised on the scene they were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

At this stage the events leading up to the collision are unknown however SAPS is on the scene and will be investigating further.
